At Torpoint

Ready to Roll

At Polperro

Marion has drawn and painted all her life, and has been a member of the Maritime Art Group for nearly five years. A keen sailor when younger, mainly racing dinghies but also in larger boats, she very much enjoys the opportunity of marine subjects and the companionship that group outings afford.

Observation of people, places and objects drive her work, drawing and painting in pencil and pastel, watercolour and oils. Her work is usually signed ‘tid’ – a family nickname from childhood.  Originally trained at Cardiff college of Art (long ago when the practice e of drawing, perspective, anatomy and composition were considered useful) Marion has studied also  at the Sir John Cass School of Art, the Prince’s Drawing Studio and the Slade Summer School, all in London.

Over  twenty years’ working life in the City gave her a close connection with Lloyd’s of London, where she exhibits annually with the Lloyd’s Art Group, as well as showing throughout the year at a nearby wine bar. She exhibits successfully in local and London Galleries, in open exhibitions at the Mall Galleries, regularly with the Llewellyn Alexander Gallery and the Chelsea Art Society, and has held solo exhibitions in the UK and Australia. Marion is an exhibiting member of the Society of Graphic Fine Art and of the Armed Forces Art society and works with many societies in Surrey. She gives demonstrations and workshops with local groups and opens her studio to visitors alternate years within the Surrey artists Open Studios scheme (details at
